Secret Beach

No longer a secret (unfortunately for some) Secret beach can only be reached taking a 15 minute hike after parking your car at the trailhead. But it will be worth the walk, formerley know as Kauapea beach, it is another place of beauty in Kauai not to be missed. Great for summer swimming, as a matter of fact, arrive early and you can swim with the dolphins that come close to the shore.


We were given directions by one of the great staff at the little fruit stand just off the highway travelling north on how to get to Kauapea beach. Not only did they serve the most delicous fresh fruit, they also gave us a morning in secluded paradise!


Good for swimming, surfing, fishing, body-boarding and family days (if everyone can handle the walk.) Long stretches of soft sand, high cliff walls (without the crowds) and a view of the Kilauea lighthouse in the distance makes for an unforgettable experience. There are no facilities or lifeguards, the place is still as nature made it. Tidal pools provide you with your own mini aquarium. Driving from Lihue Airport to Kilauea is about one hour.
