Waipouli Beach Resort
Waipouli Beach resort is our family favorite - this treasure is found on the east coast of Kauai, between Kapaa and Wailua. Here you can indulge your senses in the glorious beauty of ocean and mountains all around you while you experience total peace and relaxation. This resort was listed amongst the top 25 in the world in 2008. The resort is only a mile from the Coconut Market Place where you will find all the restaurants and shops your heart desires. Seriously, if you have a family, this has to be one of the best places on Kauai to stay, it is a short drive to Lihue, and convenient to both the North and South coastlines and beaches - not to mention several scenes from Jason Mraz's film clip "I'm Yours" were right near here and in Kapaa. At The Pool Bar and Grille, meals are served all-day long - and they serve a great cocktail - even running a special $5 cocktail while we were there. After a session in the gymnasium you can indulge in the sand-bottom whirlpool spas or the heated soft-water river pool with its flumed water slides. Our children loved the pool and water slides and we spent several hours each day with the kids just running up the stairs and racing down the slides. I even had a slide or two but I must admit I think I scared a couple of the young ones as I created tidal waves crashing into the pool! 
The spa offers all the treatments you can think of. The Wailua golf course is nearby. The Outrigger Waipouli Beach Resort and Spa has 112 new one or two bedroom condominiums which are furnished with sophistication and have all the modern comforts. Warm Indonesian woods and cool Peruvian tile have been used in these unique units. Air-conditioning, high-speed internet access throughout and gourmet kitchens all add to your enjoyment. Our apartment was great, the kids had their own massive King size bed in their own bedroom and we had our own room opposite them. It was easily spacious enough for the five of us. There is a shopping village across the road with two large supermarkets where we bought fresh mile, bread, juice and so on each day. There are some BBQ's down by the pool so we had a BBQ about every second night - steak, chicken, fish. It's also a great way to meet other people staying at the resort. Rates range from $242 a night for a mountain view room to $760 a night for a Royal oceanfront room. Oh, and a tip for the supermarkets, join their 'club' as they have large savings off lots of items (bringing things back more in line with mainland prices though!) - we just gave them our address on the mainland, you don't need to live in Kauai or Hawaii to join.
